This thesis focuses on the thermochronometric data and micro-structural analysis of seven samples coming from the new Brenner basis tunnel, whose railway system will connect Italy to Austria. The sampling place is near the Pusteria Fault: more precisely, the analysed samples include granite rocks belonging to the Brixen Granite, in the South Alps area, and post-orogenic intrusive igneous rocks of Tonalitic Lamella. The samples were accurately prepared and subsequently analysed using the (U-Th)/He thermochronometer to date apatites. The resulting ages allow to suppose a reset in the He system due to the presence of hot circulating fluid. Moreover, the micro-structural analysis highlighted an indeformated state of rocks belonging to the Brixen Granite and a strong mylonitic foliation as far as samples inside the Tonalitic Lamella are concerned, especially near the Pusteria Fault.

Abstract
Moreover, the micro-structural analysis highlighted an indeformated state of rocks belonging to the Brixen Granite and a strong mylonitic foliation as far as samples inside the Tonalitic Lamella are concerned, especially near the Pusteria Fault.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
