An archaeometric study of some potsherds from the archaeological site of Tayma (Saudi Arabia). An archaeometric study was conducted on a set of pottery samples collected from the archaeological site of Tayma (North-Western Saudi Arabia) in order to determine the possible provenance and recognize production technology. To do so, petrographic and microstructural analyses under optical microscope, chemical analyses by x-ray fluorescence and mineralogical analyses in x-ray diffraction on powders were performed on the pottery. Data were then statistically processed in order to identify homogeneous groups and recognize imported and locally produced pottery.

Abstract
An archaeometric study of some potsherds from the archaeological site of Tayma (Saudi Arabia). An archaeometric study was conducted on a set of pottery samples collected from the archaeological site of Tayma (North-Western Saudi Arabia) in order to determine the possible provenance and recognize production technology. To do so, petrographic and microstructural analyses under optical microscope, chemical analyses by x-ray fluorescence and mineralogical analyses in x-ray diffraction on powders were performed on the pottery. Data were then statistically processed in order to identify homogeneous groups and recognize imported and locally produced pottery.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
