The control of the geological structures on the development of karst systems is a well known topic, documented by several caves throughout the world. This item has been tested on a huge karst cave (Bigonda cave) developed inside a Late Triassic dolomite rock formation, which represents the main body on which the 7 Comuni Plateau (eastern Southern Alps, Italy) is carved. The topographic survey of the cave has been processed by a 3D modeling software and implemented by structural data acquired during the fieldwork. The structural control results one of the main factors in shaping the cave, along with the tectonic uplift and the Pleistocene glacial cycles.

Abstract
The control of the geological structures on the development of karst systems is a well known topic, documented by several caves throughout the world. This item has been tested on a huge karst cave (Bigonda cave) developed inside a Late Triassic dolomite rock formation, which represents the main body on which the 7 Comuni Plateau (eastern Southern Alps, Italy) is carved. The topographic survey of the cave has been processed by a 3D modeling software and implemented by structural data acquired during the fieldwork. The structural control results one of the main factors in shaping the cave, along with the tectonic uplift and the Pleistocene glacial cycles.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
