The observation that Type Ia Supernovae are fainter than expected given their redshift has led to the conclusion that the expansion of the universe is accelerating. The thesis aims first at reviewing the basic concepts on how distances are mesured in cosmology, and then it focuses on the use of Type Ia Supernovae as standard candle and how they can be used.

Abstract
The observation that Type Ia Supernovae are fainter than expected given their redshift has led to the conclusion that the expansion of the universe is accelerating. The thesis aims first at reviewing the basic concepts on how distances are mesured in cosmology, and then it focuses on the use of Type Ia Supernovae as standard candle and how they can be used.File in questo prodotto:
