We have fabricated a droplet generator using replica molding technique. In particular, we have studied the formation of oil droplets in a T-junction microfluidic device. We used both newtonian and non newtonian liquids. As non newtonian liquids we prepared aqueous solutions of xanthan, which exhibit shear-thinning effects. We studied the properties of different regimes of droplet formation and we analyzed lenght of the droplets in these regimes as a function of the capillary number. As for newtonian liquids, our result are in good agreement with the theoretical models. Finally, thanks to the introduction of an effective capillary number also for non newtonian liquids, we have compared lenghts of the droplets between the two categories of liquids.
