The paper aims to illustrate what self-compassion as a whole is and, in particular, focuses on self-compassion in teachers and its importance in the school environment by presenting various studies and research concerning mindfulness, social-emotional skills and the formation of a compassionate mind. Furthermore, teaching styles and their perceived relationship between teachers' self-compassion and demotivating teaching practices are presented. It is confirmed in this paper how self-compassion can be a source of strength and resilience, in fact it is stated that the more compassionate a teacher is the more aware he/she is of his/her own emotions and thoughts, has a better relationship with his/her students as he/she is able to understand them better by adopting a motivating style, rather than a demotivating one, moreover he/she perceives less stress and anxiety thus favouring mental and physical well-being.
L'elaborato ha l'obiettivo di illustrare cos'è l'autocompassione nel suo complesso e, in particolare, si concentra sull'autocompassione negli insegnanti e sulla sua importanza nell'ambiente scolastico presentando diversi studi e ricerche che riguardano la consapevolezza, le competenze socio-emotive e la formazione di una mente compassionevole. Si presentano, inoltre, gli stili di insegnamento e la loro relazione percepita tra l'autocompassione degli insegnanti e le pratiche didattiche demotivanti. Si conferma, in quest'elaborato, come l'autocompassione può essere fonte di forza e resilienza, infatti si afferma che più un insegnante è compassionevole più è consapevole delle proprie emozioni e dei propri pensieri, ha una relazione migliore con i suoi studenti in quanto riesce a capirli meglio adottando uno stile motivante, piuttosto che uno demotivante, inoltre percepisce minore stress e ansia favorendo così il benessere mentale e fisico.
