L'IMPATTO DEI DISASTRI SULLE COMUNITÀ

This paper will focus on the effects that a disaster has on a community and the measures that it takes to react to it, highlighting the differences in case the disaster is of natural origin or when it is caused to some extent by man. In fact, it will be analyzed how therapeutic communities operate, which normally develop as a result of an acute (natural) disaster, and how and why a chronic (technological) disaster is often followed by the creation of so-called corrosive communities, extremely harmful in the long term for the citizens of these communities. The aim of the paper is therefore to analyze the main literature of the twentieth century and some more recent studies, in order to try to identify the existence or not of these two phenomena, highlight their causes and describe their effects. The first chapter of this paper highlights the main conceptualizations developed over the years around the phenomenon of the disaster, listing the main characteristics. The second and third chapters describe two types of communities that can be formed as a result of a disaster: the second chapter focuses on the analysis of therapeutic communities, while the third chapter focuses on corrosive communities.

Questo elaborato si concentrerà sugli effetti che un disastro ha su una comunità e le misure che essa adotta per reagire a quest’ultimo, evidenziando le differenze nel caso in cui il disastro sia di origine naturale o quando sia provocato in una certa misura dall’uomo. Infatti, verrà analizzato come operano le comunità terapeutiche, che normalmente si sviluppano a seguito di un disastro acuto (naturale) e come e perché invece un disastro cronico (tecnologico) è spesso seguito dalla creazione di cosiddette comunità corrosive, estremamente dannose a lungo termine per per i cittadini delle suddette comunità. Il fine dell’elaborato è quindi quello di analizzare la letteratura principale del XX secolo e alcuni studi più recenti, in modo da provare a identificare l’esistenza o meno di questi due fenomeni, evidenziarne le cause e descriverne gli effetti. Nel primo capitolo di questo elaborato sono evidenziate le principali concettualizzazioni elaborate nel corso degli anni intorno al fenomeno del disastro, elencandone le principali caratteristiche. Nel secondo e terzo capitolo vengono descritte due tipologie di comunità che si possono formare a seguito di un disastro: il secondo capitolo si concentra sull’analisi delle comunità terapeutiche, mentre il terzo capitolo si focalizza sulle comunità corrosive.
