This dissertation aims at investigating how Golden Age crime fiction and in particular the world-renowned crime writer, Agatha Christie, were able to manipulate and destabilise gender expectations. To do so, I will present Golden Age crime fiction as a time frame of deep gender renegotiation in which women played a dominant role. Moreover, I will analyse selected novels by Agatha Christie, showing how she practised a deconstruction of traditional gender expectations.
