This study analyzes soft skills in the workplace to validate a short and useful scale for assessment in organizational contexts. The variables considered are relational soft skills, in particular: assertiveness, conflict management and initiative. The participants are Italian workers, who come from different working sectors. This study shows the importance of soft skills for the personal and work well-being of people and their role in protecting from burnout, promoting engagement. From the factorial analysis conducted, it appears that the short scale is valid and reliable, therefore it can become a useful tool for organizations in their personnel selection and career development processes.
