Social - emotional competences include knowing how to identify, monitor, discriminate one's own and others' emotions and use the information learned to guide one's thoughts and actions. According to Grossmann, a wise person possesses intellectual humility and recognition of the limits of his own knowledge, is able to evaluate multiple perspectives, is sensitive to the possibility of change in social relations, is able to find a compromise of different ideas and opinions. The project aims to investigate what changes and how does emotional social learning and the wisdom that people ascribe to themselves as they age, the relationship between wisdom and the components of SEL and how these two constructs affect perceived well-being.
Le competenze sociali - emotive comprendono il saper identificare, monitorare, discriminare le proprie e altrui emozioni ed utilizzare le informazioni apprese per guidare il proprio pensiero e le proprie azioni. Secondo Grossmann una persona saggia possiede umiltà intellettuale e riconoscimento dei limiti della propria conoscenza, è in grado di valutare più prospettive, è sensibile alla possibilità di cambiamento nelle relazioni sociali, è in grado di trovare un compromesso di diverse idee e opinioni. Il progetto ha lo scopo di indagare cosa cambia e come cambia l’apprendimento sociale emotivo e la saggezza che le persone ascrivono a se stesse con l’avanzare dell’età, la relazione presente tra la saggezza e le componenti del SEL e come questi due costrutti incidano sul benessere percepito.
