The objective of the paper is to investigate how the relationship between a child at psychosocial risk (mentee) and an adult outside his family network (mentor) in the Mentor-UP mentoring program changes over the course of the months. Diaries written by 69 university student mentors (F = 57; M = 12; mean age = 21.69 years; SD = 2.91) and 4 closed-ended questions were analyzed. In the first three months, the way in which the activities to be carried out during the meetings are agreed (p <.001). In the first three months the ways in which couples organize meetings change, passing from interpersonal knowledge to recreational activities (p <. .001). Towards the end of the relationship, couples tend to share their time more with other couples (p <.001). Mentors play a crucial role in bringing about a positive relationship whose effects are reflected in the healthy development of the mentee.
