In recent decades, work has played an increasingly important role within society. Not only does it provide economic stability, which is essential for one's livelihood, but it has a key position in the construction of each individual's identity. Indeed, it provides an opportunity to develop a sense of belonging, being part of a social group, to increase self-esteem, and to aspire to a sense of self-fulfillment. In the event of serious illness, such as cancer, the person is often forced to be absent from their work, suffering a major disruption of their reality. Various studies show that people with cancer give extremely positive significance to work and recognize its importance in recovery from the disease. In this study, through semi-structured interviews, some women diagnosed with cancer were given a voice. The main objective is to understand what significance is attributed to work in the post-diagnosis and post-disease phase, including making comparisons with perceptions prior to cancer. Results in line with the international literature on the subject are expected to be revealed from the research. From the interviews, then, should emerge a desire to return to work, seen as an opportunity to return to normalcy, feel part of a group again, free oneself from the label of "cancer patient" and have daily goals.

Abstract
From the interviews, then, should emerge a desire to return to work, seen as an opportunity to return to normalcy, feel part of a group again, free oneself from the label of "cancer patient" and have daily goals.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
