Dal contesto ambientale al danno strutturale e funzionale: il caso del neglect precoce

The aim of the current research project was to study the structural and functional damage resulting from childhood trauma, particularly in the case of early neglect. Starting with an initial introduction of the phenomenon of child maltreatment and the importance of the environmental context's role in development, the study then focused on the psycho-socio-emotional and neurobiological consequences of exposure to early adverse experiences. The research consists of a descriptive analysis of the cases of child neglect with neuroimaging that have so far arrived at the Regional Centre for the Diagnosis of the Abused Child at the Department of Women's and Children's Health of the Padua Hospital. Starting from a review of the abusive families' profile, in its main characteristics and dynamics, the real effect on the child was investigated, using level tests and magnetic resonance imaging to assess the damage that could be detected.

Il presente elaborato si è posto come obiettivo lo studio del danno strutturale e funzionale conseguente al trauma infantile, in particolare relativo al caso del neglect precoce. Partendo da una prima introduzione del fenomeno del maltrattamento infantile e dell'importanza del ruolo del contesto ambientale nello sviluppo, lo studio si è poi focalizzato sulle conseguenze psico-socio-emozionali e neurobiologiche relative all'esposizione ad esperienze precoci avverse. La ricerca consiste in un'analisi descrittiva della casistica di negligenza infantile con neuroimaging arrivata finora al Centro Regionale per la Diagnostica del Bambino Maltrattato, presso il Dipartimento di Salute della Donna e del Bambino dell'Azienda Ospedaliera di Padova. A partire da una rassegna del profilo delle famiglie maltrattanti, nelle sue principali caratteristiche e dinamiche, si è indagato il reale effetto sul minore, avvalendosi dei test di livello e della risonanza magnetica per la valutazione dei danni riscontrabili.
