Fantasie sessuali nelle persone asessuali e non-binary: uno studio tramite l'EIQ

Over the years, the literature regarding sexual fantasies in the general population is growing, but there is still little research on the erotic imagery of LGBTQ + people, partly due to the absence of valid tools to investigate it. The aim of the present study is to evaluate whether the Erotic Imagery Questionnaire (EIQ), a questionnaire that has proved to be valid and reliable for the general population, is also suitable for the LGBT + community, particularly for non-binary and/or asexual people. The research consisted of a battery of questionnaires including a socio-demographic part, the EIQ and the Wilson Sex Fantasy Questionnaire to evaluate sexual fantasies and the BIDR-6, a questionnaire that evaluates social desirability. A CFA was conducted to assess the goodness of fit of the EIQ. Subsequently, it was a MANCOVA for the effect of gender identity and sexual orientation on EIQ factors, checking for age. Finally, correlation matrices were reported to assess and the association between the EIQ factors and the Wilson Sex Fantasy Questionnaire BIDR-6 factors to investigate the convergent validity and discriminant validity of the questionnaire. It was hypothesized that the EIQ showed acceptable indices of adaptation and that there is a statistically significant difference in the sexual fantasies of non-binary and / or asexual people compared to cisgender and / or heterosexual ones. We hope that this study will contribute to the study of human sexuality, promoting and facilitating future research on the erotic imagination, both in the clinical setting and in the general population.

Negli ultimi anni la letteratura riguardante le fantasie sessuali nella popolazione generale sta crescendo, ma rimangono ancora poche le ricerche riguardanti l’immaginario erotico delle persone LGBTQ+, in parte a causa dell’assenza di strumenti validi per investigarlo. Lo scopo del presente studio è quello di valutare se l’Erotic Imagery Questionnaire (EIQ), un questionario che si è rivelato valido e affidabile per la popolazione generale, sia adatto anche per la comunità LGBT+, in particolare per le persone non-binary e/o asessuali. La ricerca era costituita da una batteria di questionari composta da una parte socio-anagrafica, dall’EIQ e dal Wilson Sex Fantasy Questionnaire per valutare le fantasie sessuale e dal BIDR-6, un questionario che valuta la desiderabilità sociale. È stata condotta una CFA per valutare la bontà di adattamento dell’EIQ. Successivamente, è stata fatta una MANCOVA per valutare l’effetto dell’identità di genere e dell’orientamento sessuale sui fattori dell’EIQ, controllando per l’età. Infine, sono state riportate delle matrici di correlazioni per valutare l’associazione tra i fattori dell’EIQ e i fattori del BIDR-6 e del Wilson Sex Fantasy Questionnaire per investigare la validità convergente e la validità discriminante del questionario. È stato ipotizzato che l’EIQ mostrasse indici di adattamento accettabili e che vi sia una differenza statisticamente significativa nelle fantasie sessuali delle persone non-binary e/o asessuali rispetto a quelle cisgender e/o eterosessuali. Speriamo che questo studio possa contribuire allo studio della sessualità umana, promuovendo e facilitando ricerche future sull’immaginario erotico, sia nell’ambito clinico che nella popolazione generale.
