Il carcere femminile. Un'indagine sulla maternità dietro le sbarre a Brescia-Verziano.

The aim of my thesis is to analyze the current situation of women’s prisons, highlighting the condition of women and their negative and/or positive aspects. In addition, an eye is placed on the situation of mothers in prison, studying their condition, what it means to face the stage of motherhood behind bars and the relationship with newborn children and then when they grow up. Interviews, carried out at the prison of Brescia-Verziano and directed at the prisoners and the staff responsible, help to highlight uncomfortable aspects and bring to the surface the truth that is hidden, and sometimes voluntarily, on what happens in women’s prisons. Starting from a historical-legislative summary on women’s prison, the work proceeds by analyzing specifically maternity in prison and deepens everything with semi-structured interviews.

Il fine della mia tesi è analizzare la situazione odierna delle carceri femminili, portando in luce la condizioni delle donne e relativi aspetti negativi e/o positivi. Inoltre, si pone un occhio di riguardo circa la situazione delle madri in carcere, studiando la loro condizione, cosa significa affrontare lo stadio della maternità dietro le sbarre e il rapporto con i figli appena nati e poi quando crescono. Delle interviste, svolte al carcere di Brescia-Verziano e rivolte alle detenute e al personale responsabile, aiutano ad evidenziare aspetti scomodi e portare a galla la verità che si cela, e a volte volontariamente si nasconde, su quello che accade nelle carceri femminili. Partendo da un riassunto storico-legislativo sul carcere femminile, il lavoro procede analizzando nello specifico la maternità in carcere e approfondisce il tutto con delle interviste semi-strutturate.
