Towards the end of the 1950s, Japanese cinema was overturned by a new cinematic movement: the Japanese new wave. The powerful political message and the visionary force of this artistic current will forever change the fate of both Asian and worldwide cinema forever. One of the leading exponents of this new wave was Hiroshi Teshigahara, who together with his friend Kōbō Abe, created some of the most memorable masterpieces of Japanese cinema.
Verso la fine degli anni '50 il cinema giapponese viene scosso da una nuova corrente cinematografica: la nouvelle vague giapponese. La carica politica e la forza visionaria di questo movimento cambieranno le sorti del cinema asiatico e mondiale per sempre. Uno dei massimi esponenti di questa nuova ondata fu Hiroshi Teshigahara, che assieme all'amico Kōbō Abe, realizzò alcuni dei capolavori più memorabili del cinema nipponico.
