Il rapporto tra l'uso dei social media e l'immagine corporea nei giovani

In the last few decades a strong growth of social media use has been largely impacting on people's lives. The attention of researchers has focused on the consequences of using digital platforms, in particular on their influence on people's mental health. A recurring theme is the impact of social media on body image, especially among adolescents and young adults. The literature concerning this field presents conflicting results, but a large part of the research shows that excessive use of social media has a negative influence on the body perception of adolescents of both genders.

Negli ultimi decenni c’è stata una forte crescita dei social media che ha avuto un grande impatto sulla vita delle persone. L’attenzione degli studiosi si è focalizzata sulle conseguenze dell’utilizzo delle piattaforme digitali, in particolare modo sull’influenza di queste sulla salute mentale. Un tema ricorrente è l’incidenza dei social media sull’immagine corporea, soprattutto tra adolescenti e giovani adulti. La letteratura a riguardo presenta risultati contrastanti, ma grande parte delle ricerche mostra che un eccessivo uso dei social media ha un’influenza negativa sulla percezione corporea di adolescenti di entrambi i sessi.
