In order to cope with climate change and the general worsening of environmental conditions in recent decades, it seems essential to promote environmentally beneficial actions within the work context. Therefore, it becomes of great importance to try to understand which individual characteristics incentivize the adoption of such pro-environmental behaviours at work as well. To address this, the following paper seeks to understand whether and how personal characteristics, habits and attitudes may influence the tendency to adopt, within the work environment, actions and behaviours that benefit the environment. Firstly, the present paper offers a general definition and classification of pro-environmental behaviours, with a focus on those related to the work context; moreover, it presents some reference theories, and it summarizes useful tools for their assessment. Secondly, it pays special attention to the role of individual characteristics as determinants of pro-environmental behaviours, including in the work environment context. Finally, it presents research that aimed to investigate the relationship between the adoption of pro-environmental behaviours in the workplace and certain individual characteristics, such as general propensity to behave in an environmentally sustainable way, attachment to one's place of residence, connection with nature, personality traits and demographic, residence and working environment characteristics. Thanks to the collaboration with the AR19 company, the research has involved a representative sample of workers from different companies distributed on the entire Italian territory.

Abstract
Thanks to the collaboration with the AR19 company, the research has involved a representative sample of workers from different companies distributed on the entire Italian territory.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
