Rising sea levels have become a growing concern all around the world. Over the past century, global sea levels have risen by approximately 20 centimeters and they are projected to continue to rise in the coming years. The primary cause of rising sea levels is global warming –driven by the emission of greenhouse gases from human activities– which causes glaciers and ice sheets to melt and ocean water to expand. The consequences of rising sea levels are significant. Low-lying coastal areas are particularly vulnerable to flooding and storm surges, which can cause extensive damage to property and infrastructure. In addition, rising sea levels can lead to saltwater intrusion into freshwater supplies, which can harm agriculture and drinking water quality. To combat rising sea levels, policymakers and communities must work together to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and implement effective adaptation measures. This may include building sea walls and other protective infrastructure, relocating vulnerable communities, and improving coastal land-use planning.

Abstract
This may include building sea walls and other protective infrastructure, relocating vulnerable communities, and improving coastal land-use planning.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
