The dissertation will analyze the main dystopian and satiric features of Burgess' A Clockwork Orange with the goal of demonstrating how the novel can be considered both a Dystopia and a Satire. In the first chapter, there are some information about the historical, political and cultural period in England from the end of WW2 until the beginning of the 1960s, the distinction between the two literary genres of Dystopia and Satire and some notions about them, and finally the example of A Clockwork Orange and how Burgess came up with the idea of the novel. In the second chapter, I will analyze 3 main features of the story that can be considered dystopian such as, Ludovico's Technique, the dystopian society and the teenage language called Nadsat. In the third chapter, instead, I will go through 3 features that one could argue to be satiric since there are veiled references to the youth subcultures present in England in the 1950s.

Abstract
In the third chapter, instead, I will go through 3 features that one could argue to be satiric since there are veiled references to the youth subcultures present in England in the 1950s.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
