Poecilia reticulata utilizza strategie alternative non-cognitive per apprendere discriminazioni visive

The literature contains several studies and examples of specialized cognitive abilities in animals but a still small number concern fish, especially female fish. The thesis has as its objective the investigation of cognitive abilities in freshwater fish, Poecilia reticulata females. We will observe the subject making a choice between two stimuli of different colors following a training phase in which he is trained to orient himself towards a specific color which can be, for example, red or green. Specifically, as the title of the paper suggests, we will observe the use of alternative non-cognitive strategies to learn visual discriminations by the subject.

La letteratura contiene svariati studi ed esempi di abilità cognitive specializzate negli animali ma un numero ancora esiguo riguarda i pesci, soprattutto i pesci femmina. La tesi ha come obiettivo l’indagine delle capacità cognitive in pesci d’acqua dolce, Poecilia Reticulata femmine. Osserveremo il soggetto compiere una scelta tra due stimoli di differente colore in seguito a una fase di training in cui addestrato a orientarsi verso uno specifico colore che può essere ad esempio il rosso o il verde.
