Seepage through an embankment body or through its foundation can compromise the effectiveness of the infrastructure or cause it to collapse. A tool that can give spatially distributed monitoring of filtration is the optical fiber (Distributed fiber optic sensing, DFOS). Some relevant uses of this technology are analyzed. Then, a modeling was carried out using the FeFlow® FEM software, to better evaluate filtration of the Adige river water, in a site near Salorno (BZ). In particular, it was evaluated whether the stratigraphy estimated and used in the model was compatible with the surveys of the DFOS system on site. Thus the numerical model used is one based on the coupled solution of the heat transport and fluid flow equations, as requested in order to use the temperature data from DFOS.

Abstract
Thus the numerical model used is one based on the coupled solution of the heat transport and fluid flow equations, as requested in order to use the temperature data from DFOS.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
