Efficienza riproduttiva delle scrofe e linee genetiche iperprolifiche: aspetti generali ed esperienze emerse in un caso studio sulle linee DanBred

The reproductive aspect of sows has always been a topic of interest to the breeder. Thanks to genetic improvement, it has been possible to obtain sows that are hyperprolific, that is, capable of producing a very large number of offspring. Among these is the DanBred Hybrid crossbreed line obtained from DanBred Landrace and DanBred Yorkshire. It is a female breeding line that makes it possible to obtain fattening pigs. The special feature of this breed is that, besides being docile, it has good maternal ability and enjoys good longevity. In pig farms, the presences of the breeder and a technical expert in the field are very important. They must cooperate with each other, especially during farrowing so as to best follow the sow and avoid unwanted deaths of both sow and piglets.

La particolarità di questa razza è che, oltre a essere docile, ha una buona capacità materna e gode di una buona longevità. Negli allevamenti suinicoli sono molto importanti le presenze dell’allevatore e di un tecnico esperto nel settore. Essi devono cooperare tra di loro, specialmente durante il parto così da seguire al meglio la scrofa ed evitare morti indesiderate sia della scrofa che dei suinetti.
