As it has been widely demonstrated, students' trauma experiences, lack of schooling experience, behavioral problems, lack of specially designed materials catering for the needs of refugees, and the language barrier, are among the most frequently claimed problems by foreign language teachers who teach to students from refugee and migrant backgrounds all around Europe. The aim of this dissertation is to try to solve some of these problems by investigating if music and drama activities could promote interactive language-learning process and intercultural dialogue among students with different cultural backgrounds. The study will focus on how a foreign language can be taught in intercultural classrooms with refugee learners from different countries. Music and drama will be both considered as pedagogical tools, with a particular insight about what kind of musical activities could be used in order to work on intercultural dialogue and how they could foster second language learning. An ethnographic survey and personalized interviews will be used in order to directly report refugees and language teachers’ experiences. In conclusion, some teaching proposals will be presented in order to give language teachers useful and practical methods.
