Chapter 1 addresses the situation of the city of Schio and what the nineteenth century under the leadership of the entrepreneur Alessandro Rossi will leave to the twentieth century including: economic, social and cultural prosperity. The theaters prior to the construction of the Civic Theater will then be treated, and the ever-growing need for a new opera house, up to the construction of the "Cooperative for the New Theater" in 1906. Instead, we will talk about the architecture of the new theatre. Chapter 2 will begin with a brief emphasis on the theatrical situation and the new avant-gardes in Italy at that time. The inaugural evening of 1909 will then be treated with the Mephistopheles and his interpreters. Subsequently, the work of Arrigo Boito il Mefistofele and its two different versions will be analysed. I will then report some testimonies on the local news of the time regarding the prime time. Chapter 3 will be dedicated to the history of the Civic Theater, its decline during the two conflicts, up to 1993 with the "Civic Theater Foundation" and its recovery. The last point dealt with will be the return to citizenship.
