Dagli occhi alle mani: analisi del ruolo di abilità motorie e visuospaziali sulle attività motorie quotidiane in bambini di scuola primaria

The literature has demonstrated on numerous occasions that motor and visuospatial skills are important for the performance of most activities of daily living (Piek et al., 2008). Motor skills is a term that refers to the internal pathways responsible for the body's movement in space and the cognitive processes that give rise to such movements (Sorgente et al., 2021). Visuospatial skills, on the other hand, refer to the abilities to represent, generate and recall symbolic, non-linguistic information (Linn & Petersen, 1985). The aim of this thesis is to investigate, in a primary school sample, the role played by motor and visuospatial skills in the performance of motor activities of daily living and to explore the psychometric properties of a new questionnaire. The research was conducted through the administration of tests to assess these skills, such as the Rey-Osterrieth Complex Figure Test (ROCTF; Rey-Osterrieth, 1941), the Purdue Pegboard Test (Gardner & Broman, 1979) and the Movement Assessment Battery for Children - Second Edition (MABC-2; Henderson et al., 2013). In addition, a purpose-built questionnaire and the Developmental Coordination Disorder Questionnaire (DCDQ; adapted. ita. Caravale et al., 2014) were also completed by parents. The hypothesis of this research is that with good motor and visuospatial skills there will be adequate functioning in the performance of activities of daily living.

La letteratura ha dimostrato in numerose occasioni che le abilità motorie e visuospaziali risultano importanti per lo svolgimento di gran parte delle attività della vita quotidiana (Piek et al., 2008). Abilità motorie è un termine che si riferisce ai percorsi interni responsabili del movimento del corpo nello spazio e ai processi cognitivi che danno origine a tali movimenti (Sorgente et al., 2021). Le abilità visuospaziali, invece, fanno riferimento alle capacità di rappresentazione, generazione e richiamo di informazioni simboliche, non linguistiche (Linn & Petersen, 1985). La presente tesi ha l'obiettivo di indagare, in un campione di scuola primaria, il ruolo svolto dalle abilità motorie e visuospaziali nell'esecuzione delle attività motorie della vita quotidiana e di esplorare le proprietà psicometriche di un nuovo questionario. La ricerca è stata condotta attraverso la somministrazione di test che permettessero di valutare tali abilità, quali il Test della Figura Complessa di Rey-Osterrieth (ROCTF; Rey-Osterrieth, 1941), il Purdue Pegboard Test (Gardner & Broman, 1979) e la Movement Assessment Battery for Children - Second Edition (MABC-2; Henderson et al., 2013). Inoltre sono stati compilati dai genitori anche un questionario costruito ad hoc e il Developmental Coordination Disorder Questionnaire (DCDQ; adatt. ita. Caravale et al., 2014) . L'ipotesi di questa ricerca è che a fronte di buone abilità motorie e visuospaziali vi sarà un funzionamento adeguato nello svolgimento delle attività della vita quotidiana.
