The present paper, thanks to the use of the follow-up technique, aims to investigate the trend of deceptive attempts in a sample of 139 students. The effectiveness of the identification warning in reducing deceptive attempts is tested. Furthermore, the study examines how the behavior of deception is influenced by the candidates' personality. The thesis work is divided into three parts: the first chapter illustrates the selection interview within the strategic management of human resources, with the focus on the effectiveness criteria of a selection; the second chapter focuses on deceptive behaviors in selection interviews, with an analysis of the literature, the definition of non-verbal communication, and an in-depth exploration of candidate characteristics and interviews; in the third chapter, the empirical study will be described with results and possible implications.
