This study focuses on the phenomenon of the retranslation of children's literature. Firstly, it examines on a theoretical level the translation strategies that can be adopted, especially when it comes to the representation of cultural elements in different contexts. Next, it explores the practice of retranslation and the reasons for the need of new translations. Finally, the research is deepened through a detailed investigation of a specific case study, Antoine De Saint-Exupéry's famous book The Little Prince. Through the comparative analysis between the 1955 French version and three Italian translations published after the end of copyright restrictions, the translation choices made are examined in order to verify the degree of fidelity or not to the original text. The Italian versions chosen are those of Beatrice Masini (2014), Yasmina Mélaouah (2015) and Roberto Piumini (2015). The results showed that some translators tend to respect the original text as much as possible and others adapt the language to the contemporary context in order to make it easier for young readers to understand. It is also investigated how the translator's choices play a key role in the overall interpretation of the text.
Cette étude se focalise sur le phénomène de la retraduction de la littérature de jeunesse. Tout d'abord, on examine d'un point de vue théorique les stratégies de traduction qui peuvent être adoptées, en particulier en ce qui concerne la représentation des éléments culturels dans différents contextes. Ensuite, on explore la pratique de la retraduction et les raisons pour lesquelles de nouvelles traductions sont nécessaires. Enfin, la recherche est approfondie par le biais d'une étude de cas spécifique, le célèbre roman Le Petit Prince d'Antoine De Saint-Exupéry. L'analyse comparative entre la version française de 1955 et trois traductions italiennes publiées après la fin des restrictions sur les droits d'auteur permet d'examiner les choix de traduction afin de vérifier le degré de fidélité ou non au texte original. Les versions italiennes choisies sont celles de Beatrice Masini (2014), Yasmina Mélaouah (2015) et Roberto Piumini (2015). L'observation a révélé que certains traducteurs tendent à respecter le texte original autant que possible et que d'autres adaptent la langue au contexte contemporain afin de faciliter la compréhension des jeunes lecteurs. L'étude montre également que les choix du traducteur jouent un rôle clé dans le l'interprétation générale du texte.
