This thesis delves into the intricate interplay between the vibrant urban hub of Milan and the picturesque rural expanse of Oltrepò Pavese. Anchored by the overarching theme of 'Enhancing Food-Based Touristic Flows in Rural Areas: Do Interactions Matter?', this comprehensive study embarks on a multifaceted exploration that encompasses both theoretical and practical dimensions. The research begins by conducting a literature review, delving into theories, models, and strategies of economic and rural development. It navigates through various dimensions, including the evolution from endogenous growth models to spatial and regional models, the dynamics of economic growth, rural regions, rural policies, and different approaches to addressing territorial divides, with also a focus on Italian inner areas. In parallel, this study unfolds the empirical side of the research by examining the Oltrepò Pavese region. It scrutinizes the socioeconomic characteristics of the region, delves into the Rural Development Program (RDP) and Local Development Plan (LDP) within the Oltrepò Pavese area, and investigates the connections between the Oltrepò Pavese region and Milan. To gather insights and perspectives, targeted discussions are held with local business leaders, stakeholders and political officials in the area. These interviews provide valuable firsthand information to enrich the analysis. As this academic exploration unfolds, it also scrutinizes real-world initiatives such as 'MADE IN OLTREPO,' with a focus on renowned products like Varzi salami and the wines of the Oltrepò Pavese region.

Abstract
As this academic exploration unfolds, it also scrutinizes real-world initiatives such as 'MADE IN OLTREPO,' with a focus on renowned products like Varzi salami and the wines of the Oltrepò Pavese region.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
