This study focuses on the relationship between translation and culture. It presents the main strategies and the most important theory one must know in order to make a good translation. It is divided into three chapters and, in every chapter, theory and practice is showed. The autobiographical novel "Eat, Pray, Love" is the book used to aid in the understanding of this type of analysis. The connection between translation and culture is therefore the principal topic being addressed, even through more particular theories, such as The Language Hoax. Another major point addressed is the influence our language has on our culture or not. The general purposes are: to understand the right strategies and techniques to achieve a good translation, to understand the relationship between language and culture, and to and give the reader the opportunity to create his or her own ideas and thoughts about it, opening up his or her mind.
