L'Intelligenza Artificiale è imparziale? Discriminazione algoritmica nella società contemporanea

The impartiality of Artificial Intelligence is one of the key reasons that justify its constantly increasing use in many areas of today’s society. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate whether it is possible for AI to truly be impartial, for it is a product of contemporary society and the specifics of its programming are socially determined. The thesis focuses mainly on the matter of the discrimination perpetuated by the algorithms of machine learning utilized in the processes of automated decision-making.

L’imparzialità dell’Intelligenza Artificiale è una delle principali motivazioni utilizzate per giustificarne l’uso sempre più crescente in diversi ambiti della società odierna. L’obiettivo di questa tesi è di valutare se l’IA sia veramente imparziale, in quanto prodotto della società contemporanea con specifiche di programmazione socialmente determinate. La tesi si focalizza principalmente sulla questione della discriminazione perpetuata dagli algoritmi di machine learning utilizzati nei processi di automated decision-making.
