This study examines the evolution of contemporary journalism, focusing on the transformations brought about by the digital era and the proliferation of social media. It begins by delving into the sociological context of journalism, defining its role and functions within society. Subsequently, it analyzes the significant changes in traditional journalism, highlighting the challenges and new methods adopted in this digital age. Special attention is dedicated to the impact of social media on traditional journalism, exploring how these platforms have redefined news production, dissemination, and consumption. It also examines the emergence of new journalistic models in this landscape, emphasizing current challenges and future prospects. A specific section is dedicated to youth information, exploring the informational framework involving younger generations amidst established media and new digital platforms. It analyzes the youth information process, the crucial role of the internet, and the fundamental pillars for an informed and pluralistic future. Furthermore, this study is based on research conducted in an educational laboratory dedicated to journalism, providing an analysis of the context in which it was carried out, the methodology employed, and a comprehensive evaluation of the results obtained. It highlights the perspectives of participating students, reflections on the dynamics of traditional journalism, and challenges associated with adapting media for new generations. Finally, strategic proposals are put forward to address the challenges in contemporary media consumption, integrating perspectives from traditional journalism and new media. The account from laboratory participants confirms expectations, outlining essential guidelines for the future of journalism in a constantly evolving and complex media landscape.
La presente indagine esamina il mutamento del giornalismo contemporaneo, focalizzandosi sulle trasformazioni derivanti dall'era digitale e dalla diffusione dei social media. Si inizia approfondendo il contesto sociologico del giornalismo, definendo il suo ruolo e le sue funzioni nella società. Successivamente, si analizzano le principali trasformazioni del giornalismo tradizionale, mettendo in luce le sfide e i nuovi metodi adottati in quest'epoca digitale. Un'attenzione particolare è dedicata all'impatto dei social media sul giornalismo tradizionale, esplorando come tali piattaforme abbiano ridefinito la produzione, la diffusione e il consumo delle notizie. Si esamina altresì la comparsa di nuovi modelli giornalistici in questo panorama, enfatizzando le sfide attuali e le prospettive future. Una sezione specifica è riservata all'informazione destinata ai giovani, esplorando il quadro informativo coinvolgente le nuove generazioni tra i media consolidati e i nuovi media digitali. Si analizza il processo informativo giovanile, il ruolo cruciale della rete e i pilastri fondamentali per un futuro informato e pluralistico. Il presente studio si basa, inoltre, su una ricerca condotta in un laboratorio didattico dedicato al giornalismo, fornendo un'analisi del contesto in cui è stata svolta, la metodologia adottata e un'approfondita valutazione dei risultati ottenuti. Si pongono in luce le prospettive degli studenti partecipanti, le riflessioni sulle dinamiche del giornalismo tradizionale e le sfide connesse all'adattabilità dei media alle nuove generazioni. Infine, vengono avanzate proposte strategiche per affrontare le sfide presenti nel consumo mediatico contemporaneo, integrando prospettive del giornalismo tradizionale e dei nuovi media. Il resoconto dei partecipanti al laboratorio conferma le aspettative, delineando linee guida essenziali per il futuro del giornalismo in un contesto mediatico in continua e complessa evoluzione.
