In Mama Odessa, Maxim Biller brings forgotten truths to light. The emigration of his Russian Jewish parents to Germany in the 1970s and the consequences of this change irreversibly affect their lives, and the story of the relationship between a mother and son becomes an indispensable testimony. This work aims to provide a proposal for a translation of the novel Mama Odessa, as well as an introductory reconstruction of the history of Russian Jews and German Jewish literature in the second half of the 20th century.
In Mama Odessa Maxim Biller porta alla luce verità ormai dimenticate. L'emigrazione dei suoi genitori ebrei russi in Germania negli anni Settanta e le conseguenze di questo cambiamento incidono in maniera irreversibile sulle loro vite, e la storia del rapporto fra una madre e un figlio diventa una testimonianza indispensabile. Questo lavoro si propone di fornire una proposta di traduzione del romanzo Mama Odessa, nonché di ricostruire in maniera introduttiva la storia degli ebrei russi e la letteratura ebraica tedesca del secondo Novecento.
