Suicide has become a public health issue, and it is necessary to develop an appropriate treatment. More than half of suicide attempts are committed by individuals suffering from depression. Currently, it is not possible to find medications that directly target suicidal crises, and the most common method is to treat the associated psychological disorders. However, classical treatments have significant limitations, including delayed therapeutic action, undesirable side effects, and the presence of patients resistant to medication. The discovery of new rapid-acting antidepressant medications, such as ketamine and (S)-ketamine, has opened the door to a new treatment for suicidal behavior as well as depression. This paper aims to analyze the short-term and long-term effects of these medications through a literature review.

Abstract
This paper aims to analyze the short-term and long-term effects of these medications through a literature review.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
