Despite depression being a known risk factor for suicidal behavior, psychological intervention trials for depressive disorders seem to consistently neglect assessment of suicide-related variables in depressed participants. This systematic review aims to provide insight into this trend by investigating suicidality assessment in clinical trial protocols on psychological interventions for depression and underlying the importance of detailed and appropriate approaches to assess and manage suicidality. An analysis of 235 protocol trials seems to confirm that evaluation of suicidality is rarely implemented. Moreover, the role of suicide-related adverse effects appears unacknowledged.

Abstract
Despite depression being a known risk factor for suicidal behavior, psychological intervention trials for depressive disorders seem to consistently neglect assessment of suicide-related variables in depressed participants. This systematic review aims to provide insight into this trend by investigating suicidality assessment in clinical trial protocols on psychological interventions for depression and underlying the importance of detailed and appropriate approaches to assess and manage suicidality. An analysis of 235 protocol trials seems to confirm that evaluation of suicidality is rarely implemented. Moreover, the role of suicide-related adverse effects appears unacknowledged.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
