The present thesis aims to explore the complex phenomenon of the desire for early death within the context of terminal illness. Starting from a review of scientific literature, the factors influencing the desire for hastened death among patients with terminal illness are examined, including psychological aspects, physical symptoms, and quality of life. Furthermore, the ethical implications of this desire are explored, considering patient autonomy, dignity, the responsibilities of healthcare providers, and the role of psychological support specialists. In addition to a particular focus on topics such as euthanasia and assisted suicide, possible strategies and interventions to address the desire for early death are highlighted, including psychological and spiritual support for patients and their families. Through this comprehensive and in-depth analysis, the thesis aims to provide an articulate and informed understanding of the desire for early death within the context of terminal illness, offering insights for debate, future research, and the implementation of clinical interventions and healthcare policies.
