The present study aims to explore the constructs of separation anxiety and intolerance of uncertainty in a sample of diabetic adolescents and their respective parents. Given the small sample size, consisting of two groups of adolescents - one clinical and one healthy - each comprising 18 subjects, along with their parents, the main purpose of the work is to preliminarily investigate these aspects. Initially, possible differences between the two groups were examined, followed by an analysis of some specific aspects of diabetes, particularly the correlations between the two psychological constructs and the percentage of time spent in the therapeutic range (TAR), as well as the potential impact of the automatic insulin pump. In recent years, research has developed new technologies with the aim of facilitating autonomy and reducing anxiety related to self-monitoring in diabetic patients. One of these technologies is the automatic insulin pump, a device that continuously delivers insulin based on blood sugar levels, thus reducing emotional stress associated with diabetes management. In conclusion, the overall aim of the study is to shed light on the interpersonal dynamics described, focusing on the effects that diabetes can have on them. Additionally, it seeks to highlight the importance of research on the well-being derived from new technologies in glycemic control, both for adolescents and their parents.

Abstract
Additionally, it seeks to highlight the importance of research on the well-being derived from new technologies in glycemic control, both for adolescents and their parents.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
