When presented with a new environment whomever species we decide to take into consideration would present an anxiety-like response, meaning a behavior oriented towards the analysis of possible threats and search for a secure condition. In this thesis what will be examined is the presence of this behavior in “Kryptopterus bicirrhis” (ghost glass cat) and “Paracheirodon axelordi” (cardinal tetra) thanks to the use of the dark/light paradigm, a procedure characterized by the possibility of choosing between a bright and a dark zone depending on which of those conditions the subject believes to be the most likely to survive in, generally the darker one is the preferred, a behavior known as scototaxia. Therefore how much time a subject spends in each compartment is an indicator not only of which space they feel the most secure in but also of the species' boldness, which makes this test a reliable and low-cost index of anxiety/fear.

Abstract
Therefore how much time a subject spends in each compartment is an indicator not only of which space they feel the most secure in but also of the species' boldness, which makes this test a reliable and low-cost index of anxiety/fear.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
