Fish oil is an important source of Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) for farmed fish, but it have to face problems related to sustainability and availability due to the dependency on wild fishes stocks for its production. Therefore, many alternatives have been tested in aquafeed in order to reduce its use without compromising the EPA and DHA content in the diet. Thus, the present thesis evaluates the replacement of fish oil with two different inclusions of a microalgae oil, rich in EPA and DHA, in diets for rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata).

Abstract
Fish oil is an important source of Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) for farmed fish, but it have to face problems related to sustainability and availability due to the dependency on wild fishes stocks for its production. Therefore, many alternatives have been tested in aquafeed in order to reduce its use without compromising the EPA and DHA content in the diet. Thus, the present thesis evaluates the replacement of fish oil with two different inclusions of a microalgae oil, rich in EPA and DHA, in diets for rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata).File | Dimensione | Formato | |
