In recent years, there has been a growing concern for animal welfare, both in the media and beyond. Regarding poultry farming, especially egg-laying hens, cage farming is being converted to free-range or aviary systems, bringing increased attention to animal welfare. To monitor the animals, progressively more technologies are being introduced to assist farmers in monitoring animal conditions. In this thesis work, a validation process has been conducted regarding the use of RFID technology as an animal tracking system in poultry farming (specifically egg-laying hens), with its accuracy compared to an optical system (video).

Abstract
In recent years, there has been a growing concern for animal welfare, both in the media and beyond. Regarding poultry farming, especially egg-laying hens, cage farming is being converted to free-range or aviary systems, bringing increased attention to animal welfare. To monitor the animals, progressively more technologies are being introduced to assist farmers in monitoring animal conditions. In this thesis work, a validation process has been conducted regarding the use of RFID technology as an animal tracking system in poultry farming (specifically egg-laying hens), with its accuracy compared to an optical system (video).File | Dimensione | Formato | |
