The present work offers an Italian version of the Scholars at Risk annual report Free to Think 2023, along with the translation theory adopted and a focus on the use of inclusive language. The first chapter will deal with the theoretical aspect of translation, with a focus on the importance of making linguistic choices that lead to a text being as gender-neutral as possible. The second chapter covers the actual translation, together with the original text. In the third chapter, there will be an analysis of the Italian version, including a reflection on the choices that were taken in order to achieve an impartial use of the language, which may feel everyone included in what they are reading, and a note on the linguistic changes that must be taken so as to maintain neutrality, which is an aspect that is considerably easier to achieve in English, while it definitely requires more attention in Italian.
