The present thesis aims to investigate the particular psychological consequences, and the intervention models used for the treatment of femicide orphans, also addressed in literature as “special orphans”. The first chapter introduces femicide as a global phenomenon and describes its prevalence as well as the defining criteria adopted in literature and in statistical collection. Subsequently, the characteristics of special orphans are introduced and described, focusing on the legislative aspects of the Italian context. The second chapter explores the psychological consequences suffered from the traumatic bereavement. In particular, risk and protective factors are described, as well as the critical aspects related to the custody process. The third chapter tackles the guidelines for the psychological interventions with femicide orphans as presented in the European project Switch-off. The most commonly recommended methods are described, along with their efficacy. Finally, the current intervention models, both in international and in the Italian context, are presented.

Abstract
Finally, the current intervention models, both in international and in the Italian context, are presented.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
