This thesis explores the evolution of the role of human translators in the context of new artificial intelligence techniques, with a particular focus on ChatGPT. It analyzes how artificial intelligence is transforming the translation process, from the automation of monotonous tasks to the improvement of accuracy and efficiency in translating complex texts. Through a comparative study between traditional translation methodologies and advanced AI technologies, the advantages and limitations of each approach are examined. Additionally, the impact of these innovations on the translation profession is discussed, including the need for new skills and the adaptation of human translators to a constantly changing technological environment. The results of this research indicate that, although artificial intelligence offers powerful tools, human intervention remains crucial to ensure quality and cultural appropriateness in translation.
