USO E ABUSO DEL SALBUTAMOLO NELLO SPORT: ASPETTI TERAPEUTICI, REGOLAMENTARI ED ETICI

This thesis explores the controversial topic of the use of salbutamol, a bronchodilator, in the sports context. The main objective is to analyze the therapeutic benefits of salbutamol in asthmatic subjects, its pharmacology, and its potential impact on sports performance. The thesis also focuses on regulatory aspects and anti-doping regulations, highlighting how its use can result in abuse as a doping substance. Through a review of the literature, the health risks associated with the misuse of salbutamol are examined, as well as the ethical and legal implications of its illicit use. Famous cases of athletes disqualified for nontherapeutic use of this substance are also analyzed.

Questa tesi esplora il controverso tema dell'uso del salbutamolo, un broncodilatatore, nel contesto sportivo. L'obiettivo principale è analizzare i benefici terapeutici del salbutamolo nei soggetti asmatici, la sua farmacologia, e il suo potenziale impatto sulle prestazioni sportive. La tesi si focalizza anche sugli aspetti regolamentari e le normative antidoping, sottolineando come il suo uso possa sfociare nell'abuso come sostanza dopante. Attraverso una revisione della letteratura, vengono esaminati i rischi per la salute associati all'uso improprio del salbutamolo, nonché le implicazioni etiche e legali del suo utilizzo illecito. Vengono inoltre analizzati casi famosi di atleti squalificati per uso non terapeutico di questa sostanza.
