River systems are complex and have a reciprocal relationship between the watercourse’s morphology and the vegetation present in the riverbed, both influenced by anthropogenic pressures. This work aims to estimate the changes that have occurred in a stretch of the Piave River (north-eastern Italy), considered moderately disturbed by human action, between 2016 and 2024. The study, which took place near Limana (BL), focused on morphological, granulometric, riparian vegetation and timber in the riverbed changes. The analysis focused on three cross-sections, and for each of these the previously mentioned changes have been determined, through the collection of data both through field surveys, and with GIS. The results show a watercourse’s evolution in line with other studies conducted on intermediate-disturbed rivers; however, the persistence of the test areas classified as foodplain is lower than that reported in these works. This could be due to the Vaia Storm, which caused an exceptional flood event in 2018. Therefore, in the coming years, it is possible that further variations in the dynamics of watercourses will be observed, influenced not only by human action, as happened in past centuries, but also by climate change as in the exemplary case of the Vaia event.

Abstract
Therefore, in the coming years, it is possible that further variations in the dynamics of watercourses will be observed, influenced not only by human action, as happened in past centuries, but also by climate change as in the exemplary case of the Vaia event.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
