Dalla Passività alla Partecipazione: I Cammini come Antidoto al Turismo di Massa

This paper aims to explore the birth and evolution of tourism, with particular attention to its sociological aspects and its industrialization as a phenomenon of massification (with reference to the theories of MacCannell, Cohen, and Urry). Furthermore, it emphasizes the subsequent shift towards new frontiers of tourism, seen as active and authentic experiences. In this context, the topic of pathways is examined, representing the evolution of ancient pilgrimages, a positive model of sustainable tourism that is experienced with more participation by users.

Questo elaborato si propone di fare una panoramica della nascita e dell'evoluzione del turismo, con particolare attenzione all'aspetto sociologico e all'industrializzazione di quest'ultimo come fenomeno di massificazione (con riferimento alle teorie di MacCannell, Cohen e Urry). Inoltre, viene posto l'accento sul successivo passaggio verso nuove frontiere del turismo, quali esperienze attive e autentiche. In questo contesto, viene approfondito il tema dei cammini, evoluzione degli antichi pellegrinaggi e modello positivo di turismo sostenibile, vissuto con maggior partecipazione dai fruitori.
