My thesis analyzes the art of Félix González-Torres, a contemporary artist. It starts from the overview of the context in which he lived and worked: from Cuba in the 1950s to New York at the end of the century. It examines the meeting and the influences of Group Material, the relationship with Ross Laycock, the tragedy of AIDS. Trough the works, materials and techniques of the artist. His kind of art, the Minimalism, the Neominimalism, the unique relationships he is able to create with his public. The question of titles, the concept of authenticity and copying. The themes of public and private. The evolution of González-Torres' art before and after Ross' death, with related works. His work placed in the context of what it meant to be homosexual in the second half of the 20th century.
