This thesis aims to explore career calling through a cross-cultural approach, focusing on a sample of Italian and Argentine students. The first chapter delves into the construct of career calling, beginning with historical perspectives that examine how work was conceptualized as a calling in the context of the Protestant Reformation through the contributions of significant historical figures. It then proceeds with various theoretical perspectives: from the neoclassical approach to the modern one. The 'Work as a Calling Theory' model is also presented, analyzing the predictors of calling, mediating and moderating variables, as well as the positive and negative outcomes of experiencing a calling. The second chapter is dedicated to cross-cultural literature on calling. After addressing the limitations of the construct (differentiation, generalizability, and relevance), space is given to a review of the current state of the art in cross-cultural calling studies. Additionally, the concept of WEIRDness is described. The chapter concludes with the formulation of research hypotheses. The third chapter opens with a description of the 'Unified Multidimensional Calling' theoretical model adopted in the research. This is followed by a section on the method, which includes participants, procedure, and research measures, and a section on data analysis. The thesis concludes with a discussion of the research findings.

Abstract
The thesis concludes with a discussion of the research findings.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
