Apple Proliferation (AP) is a disease associated to ‘Candidatus Phytoplasma mali,’ which significantly reduces apple quality and yield, leading to substantial economic impact. This thesis aims to analyze the detection of the disease through visible symptoms and modern diagnostic methods, as well as strategies for controlling its spread. Key aspects addressed include the potential to obtain resistant plant material, vector control, and recovery of infected plants. The study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of current knowledge and techniques for combating apple proliferation, with a focus on innovative solutions for disease management.
Gli scopazzi del melo (Apple Proliferation, AP), sono una malattia associata a ‘Candidatus Phytoplasma mali’, a seguito della quale la qualità e la produzione delle mele viene significativamente ridotta portando un forte impatto economico. Questo lavoro di tesi è volto ad analizzare il riconoscimento della malattia attraverso i sintomi visibili e attraverso i moderni metodi di analisi, e a come controllare la sua diffusione. Vengono trattati alcuni punti fondamentali quali la possibilità di ottenere materiale resistente, il controllo dei vettori e il recupero delle piante infette. Il lavoro si propone di offrire un quadro completo delle attuali conoscenze e tecniche per combattere gli scopazzi del melo, con un focus su soluzioni innovative per il controllo della malattia.
