This thesis focuses on the development of a new chatbot named ChatPED, an intelligent tutor designed to assist teachers and students in understanding the concept of formative assessment and its related aspects. In the first chapter, the concept of artificial intelligence is introduced, outlining a journey from its origins with Alan Turing to the Dartmouth Conference, passing through the Chinese Room problem and arriving at the emergence of machine learning and deep learning. The development of Generative Pre-Trained Transformers and the advent of generative AI will be further explored. The second chapter examines the importance of tutoring in education, comparing the traditional model with new perspectives offered by artificial intelligence, highlighting both the benefits and limitations of both approaches. Finally, the third chapter is dedicated to the creation of ChatPED, detailing the training process and its evolution. This section underscores the innovation of this chatbot, which has been “trained” according to rigorous pedagogical rules for optimal tutoring, with the ultimate goal of contributing to personalized, accessible, and quality education for the students who will use it.

Abstract
This thesis focuses on the development of a new chatbot named ChatPED, an intelligent tutor designed to assist teachers and students in understanding the concept of formative assessment and its related aspects. This section underscores the innovation of this chatbot, which has been “trained” according to rigorous pedagogical rules for optimal tutoring, with the ultimate goal of contributing to personalized, accessible, and quality education for the students who will use it.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
